Ernest Hemingway in the book Over the River and Into the Trees writes about Valpolicella wine describing it "friendly as a brother with whom you get along”.
Valpolicella is appreciated for its freshness, the good acidity, its medium-bodied structure, the pleasant drinkability and the moderate tannins.
The vintage 2014 presents, during the tasting, a clear ruby color, an intense bouquet of red flowers, cherries, raspberries, redcurrants, an harmonious and elegant bouquet and the right width. The taste is fully calibrated, fine and still very vibrant tannins; balance and drinkability are important characteristics of this wine, thanks to a good acidity and a well balanced alcohol content.
Valpolicella DOC Classico 2014 can be paired with different dishes, depending on its maturity. When it is young, the best pairings are the traditional Venetian cold cuts and salami, such as “soppressa”, and some dishes with rice: try its combination with the risotto with chicken livers. When it is mature, it may approach the boiled meat and the liver cooked in the Venetian art. If you love delicious combinations, you can taste it with the salted codfish and the pike.
